Khorasani Named Among Top 25 Innovators
Health Imaging & IT magazine named Ramin Khorasani, MD, MPH, vice chair of Radiology and director of Medical Imaging Information Technology, to its prestigious list of top 25 innovators.
Khorasani joined hospital executives, physicians, department chiefs, researchers and others from healthcare practices, hospitals and health systems across the country on the list. “These trailblazers are focused on improving the quality and safety of health care by speeding workflow and clinical decision making and bettering outcomes,” the magazine declared in June.
Health Imaging & IT recognized Khorasani for his efforts to improve patient safety, quality and efficiency of care by using information technology. Khorasani educates administrators, physicians and others from around the country on reducing medical errors with information technology. At BWH, he is working to reduce inappropriate use of imaging and is project director for an initiative to enable researchers to use information systems and analyze multidisciplinary data to facilitate the practice of evidence-based medicine and measure its impact on quality of care.
Khorasani credits his team and BWH leadership, including President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA, and Steven Seltzer, MD, chair of the Department of Radiology. “The real credit should go to Drs. Gottlieb and Seltzer for having the vision of a patient-centered, evidence-based practice, and the entire IT team, including Medical Imaging IT and BWH IS, for continued and successful implementation of the necessary solutions for our patients,” he said.
